I’d defend Apple to the grave, but when I witnessed a new product Microsoft is planning on releasing commercially, I was flabbergasted. The Microsoft Surface is a device that utilizes multi-touch sensitivity as well as a series of infra-red cameras to interact with objects placed on the coffee table surface. Although it’s being released commercially to hotels, casinos, corporations and stores, the pricey $5,000-$10,000 tag will not hold back consumers from trying out the beautifully designed in stores at the end of 2007. Even though the technology of multi-touch interfaces has been in development for years now, Microsoft is applying it in a way that may lead to a whole new technological interaction between consumer and touch-screen. Take a look at the video, it’s unreal (the wireless capabilities will blow your mind).
